I don't see the Russians hitting major population centres. Not that it would matter that much in the bigger scheme of things mind you.

We have seen with Ukraine the Russians are reluctant to go down the route of Total War to achieve military objectives. I don't believe the stories of them massacring civilians.

I have a feeling the Russians will hit only military installations, near their borders, and weapons Shipments with tactical nukes to get US/NATO attention at first.

Way back in 2012 when Russia built 5000 fallout shelters in Moscow, I said nuke war would never come until you saw movements to the Urals. Here we are I guess.

That won't stop Putin from using the nuclear option, what matters is does Putin "believe" Russia can survive. His actions over the past 6 years indicates he does. If he thinks he can set off a couple low yield tactical nukes to put "the fear of god" into the west and get them to back off, good chance he will.

In all the scenarios, US has a response.
