I use a neighborhood app called Nextdoor. This was posted there. Our neighborhood has been one of the safest areas in Chicago but things like this have started to happen within a mile or two.

Good evening everyone, I want to share an experience that I had today on a walk with my dog Lily. In hindsight it started on our walk at Montrose and Ashland heading south. I tend to be very hyper sensitive to my surroundings. But I was on the phone with my doctor's office. I happen to feel the presence of somebody behind me and I tend to one noticing somebody behind me that seems to be walking faster than me slow down and let them pass me. When this seem to be happening this particular person would not do that they would just slow down. When I would stop with Lily so she would use the bathroom this person would stop and pace and wait for me. The description is a young hispanic man around the age of 20 around 5'8 slender frame dressed in all black and a black face mask. He was carrying a piece of wood that he had picked up from the street like a tree branch. I had made eye contact contact with him quite a few times and there was nothing good in his eyes. When I would stop he would stop. By the time I got to the block right before Irving Park which escapes me right now they were two surveyors and which I approached and I told the female surveyor that I felt very unsafe because there was somebody following me I had actually passed them at one point and circled back and he had also followed me back and she said stay with them and let's see what he does. What he did was he stayed at the end of the block and watched me for about 15 minutes and then ended up leaving. The other male surveyor ended up checking out the other blocks before I left they did offer to drive me home which was incredibly generous at this shook me to my core I am new to this neighborhood I've been here since September and I have felt nothing but safe I absolutely love it here and now I am absolutely scared out of my mind. Please be on the lookout just look over your shoulders this man had nothing but evil intentions. I'm sure if there was nobody around something bad would have happened. I did not make a police report I'm not sure if I should or if it's too late I'm open to suggestions. Please be safe. I'm just so shaken up right now.
