I've been experimenting with conifer needle tea. I don't have an espresso machine, so this may suffice as a poor man's alternative.

I saw some videos where they were talking about using a Tb or so in a cup of hot water for 10 minutes. I tried that, it seemed kind of weak, if you want some medicine out of it. I cut spruce needles (that's what grows in my yard) off my branch with kitchen shears, then mashed/ pounded maybe 1 1/2+ Tb needles in a mortar with a pestle. Then I let it sit (in a tea ball) for about 25 minutes in hot (boiled) water. I added 9 drops stevia, in a 12 oz mug. That seems better, more potent.

Following the discussion by Adams, you could add some star anise. I have that on hand, including ground star anise seeds, so I will try that. (I've already tried adding other herb teas to modify the flavor.)
