If you have need to heat a space up to 40' or so...there are 2 economical ways of going about that. Forget the terra cotta pots and what not, they won't keep granny warm. You want real heat, with cheap fuel. If you are without power you will have already figured out that heating the least amount of air, in the smallest that is comfortable room is the best thing to do. I would suggest the kitchen.

Use a plastic chair in the moulding of the bench and add an element just past the opening to the firebox and you will be just fine for cooking and seating.

Now, since most GuLPers are not DIY folks, outside a certain subset, these are cheap and highly effective. https://cubicminiwoodstoves.com This might be a good purchase for those who are pondering the States without power and whose somewhat less then prepper populace can't seem to heat their homes. The Rocket mass stove, in all probability, considering time and materials will roughly work out the same as the cubic mini.

Guess what? If anyone here has some gumption right now...I bet being a rep in your area for the cubic mini's, or an installer of the easily assembled Mass stove...might turn a tidy profit. If you know how to market...why not? Run with it. Build one, buy the other, and use them both and then...get thee into the marketplace. Or maybe you can fabricate a similar stove to the cubic mini? At an equitable price point?
