I always read your posts because you don't hide a 'No Email Reply' banner. You have the cajoles to deal with readers, unlike the others. I congratulate and respect you for your courage.

Now, how do we know Yamamoto said "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." -

Or, is this one of our rallying calls like "Remember the Alamo"....and other rallying cries??

It appears to be necessary, for the sake of discussion, to verify a few basis points brought forward in the post.

How do we even know for sure that Yamamoto was not really a guy named Richie Berkowitz from Youngstown, OH, USA?

We don't.

We only know what someone who wrote the history decided to put down on paper.

Nonetheless, the quote pertaining to the American sleeping giant has been attributed to Yamamoto long before 'fact checkers' were invented, so right or wrong - I'll go with seniority on that one. :-)

Aside from intuition, anything we profess to "Know", must be accurately be based in direct experience or participation in aforementioned events, prior to a conclusion drawn on results of said event, which can then rightfully be claimed as knowledge of the event or the circumstance.

Therefore, when it comes to world history, or events shaping our lives, we are at the mercy of those who wrote the history books.

Honestly, we can't really say we 'know' much at all.

Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, recently made an observation where he reasoned that even in a time when we had no internet, with only black and white TV with three channels to choose from - we were being lied to by the news media then, just as much as we are lied to today by the same networks.

Today, I would not choose be friends with 'Leland Walter Cronkite' ( 1916-2009 ).

Even though in the 60's and 70s' Cronkite had the bully pulpit as one of the talking heads from one of the three black and white channels Adams spoke of.

Cronkite spewed subversive corporate network propaganda just like the rest.

We either trust the information when we read it, hear it, or our intuition tells us the information 'doesn't ring true'.

Our intuition form of 'knowing' is that often overlooked 'gut feeling', AKA 'heart knowledge'.

Intuition has been defined as the ability to acquire knowledge, seemingly without recourse to conscious reasoning.

However, both conscious and unconscious inductive reasoning, is the avenue from which thought waves travel toward bringing a conclusion into our intuition, or knowing.

Different fields use the word "intuition" in very different ways, including but not limited to: direct access to unconscious knowledge; unconscious cognition; inner sensing; inner insight to unconscious pattern-recognition; and the ability to understand something instinctively, without any need for apparent conscious reasoning.

The word intuition comes from the Latin verb intueri translated as "consider" or from the late middle English word intuit, "to contemplate".

My intuition tells me this phrase is appropriate for the times we are experiencing.

It is not so important whether the phrase initially derived from Yamamoto or Richie from Youngstown, OH, it is still a hard lesson both McConnell and Pelosi are about to learn the hard way.
