A good number of people went to pay their respects , rightly ignoring the ridiculous edicts of our would-be controllers, and a line of 'police' were placed to prevent any access to the memorial. Fair enough and ten a lone piper in his regimental colours, walked playing his pipes along the line of the public, between them and at a distance from the police until one of the brave [Gestapo]officers rushed at him and pushed him over!!

I'd say he was lucky not to have been lynched and although there were words and a scuffle with a group of 'police', some semblance of order was eventually restored.
