SEATTLE — Classes on campus have been suspended for the remainder of winter quarter at University of Washington.

Learning and final exams will continue online starting March. UW leaders said it's to help slow the spread of coronavirus in the region.

UW administrators said they did not want to take any chances of students or staff becoming ill. So, they decided to move to online learning. They said they made that decision even before they found out that a UW staff member tested presumptive positive for coronavirus.

It’s the last day for Matthew Charchenko in his Media and Meteorology class at University of Washington.

Next week, he and other UW students at all three campuses—Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma-- will transition to online lessons.
