The blind men, the elephant, and the virus: There is a traditional fable in Asia about blind men touching an elephant and then telling a story of what they think an elephant is based upon the part of the elephant they perceived. Medical doctors often approach health with the same fallacy of misunderstanding reality due to having limited perception and creating a conceptual story based upon that limited, out of context data. With the subject of viruses and other microbes that can appear as pathogenic organisms, it is vital to have a holistic view to understand their role in symptoms of illness. Many people will be exposed to viruses and will never develop illness associated with that exposure - whether or not the virus becomes active as an infection depends upon the psychological, energetic, and biological environment of the host. We are designed to coexist with all kinds of microbes and to actually use those organisms to support our biological functioning in a symbiotic balancing process. When various stresses bring us out of balance then the activity of the microbes will then shift. If we are concerned about health then we need to examine those stresses and consider toxin exposures, nutrient deficiencies, emotional traumas, lifestyle, and self-destructive, life-resisting beliefs as the more relevant causes of illness. As long as we believe we are at the mercy of some external threat (especially a microorganism that has a very limited field of consciousness and intention compared to our own) then we increase our vulnerability to having illnesses that we then mistakenly blame solely upon an external entity. - JS
