Fact-checking website Snopes contacted the White House after President Trump retweeted a story from popular satirical outlet The Babylon Bee on Wednesday, Disrn can exclusively report.

Snopes' Dan Evon, who has previously collided with The Babylon Bee when he assigned nefarious motives to a satirical Bee article in a supposedly objective fact-check, prompting a threat of legal action from the comedy outlet, sent his concerns to the White House in an email reviewed by Disrn, which read in part:

"President Trump recently retweeted a post from @JennaEllisEsq containing a fake quote from an entertainment article.

Was President Trump aware that this quote was fake when he sent it? If so, why wasn't it accompanied by a message labeling the quote as fiction?"

The satirical article retweeted by the president was published shortly after Democrats announced impeachment charges. The headline reads, "House Dems Unveil Surefire Plan To Get Trump Reelected," and the article jokingly quotes Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler as saying:

"We hereby unveil these articles of impeachment, which clearly lay out the undeniable fact that we will not win the White House back next year. We have found Trump guilty of absolutely nothing, but we already started this whole process and it would look bad to back out now, so here we are. I declare here and now that Trump will be in the White House for at least another four years."

Despite the email from Snopes asking why the tweet was not "accompanied by a message labeling the quote as fiction," the tweet which was retweeted by President Trump clearly refers to the satirical nature of the story, prefacing the link with "The Bee mocking the Dems":

Jenna Ellis, who posted the original tweet and who is Senior Legal Advisor to the Trump 2020 Campaign, told Disrn:

"This is yet another idiotic instance of 'fact-checking' the President for his excellent sense of humor. The fake news media refuses to show the wonderfully kind, fun, and generous side of our President. Instead, they pompously pretend they have to take every tweet or joke at a rally seriously.

It's great that President Trump continues to show his good humor and be himself. America loves his honesty and direct calling out of fake news."

Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, told Disrn:

"I'm not surprised by this at all. They don't like conservatives, so they're intent on painting us as a fake news outlet, rather than the well-known satire publication that we are. This time, they're concerned we might have duped the president, or that the president might be duping others because he didn't attach a disclaimer to our piece. It's just one more example of their bristling at humor they don't like."
