Skin Deep: The Battle Over Morgellons' World Premiere at the Awareness Film Festival in Los Angeles was a big success.

The sold-out screening received a standing ovation and there were two, count 'em, two Q&As. So many tears, so much passion, so many hugs.

Here's a message to the activist in you......

Personally, I am feeling very proud of and excited for Skin Deep. I didn't make this movie alone. I made it with many, many people. Whether it was with a scientist who took my call and educated me about the scientific process, a friend who grabbed a camera and drove out of town with me, an organization who gave me a grant, a patient who braved ridicule and derision to share their story, a physician who agreed to be followed and interviewed, a patient who--even though they are ill and suffering--donated money to our film, or an amazing Kickstarter backer like YOU.... we made this movie TOGETHER.

It's been a long road, one filled with triumphs, but also with setbacks. My original plan of doing a year-long film festival tour while garnering press & awards has been foiled: 28 out of 29 film festivals have rejected Skin Deep. The Awareness Film Festival is the one and only festival that Skin Deep will play. But the overwhelmingly positive reaction to our sole festival screening underscores the need for more audience members to see and react to the film.

Creating our own screenings of the film--starting a grassroots Morgellons education campaign--is more important than ever. I'm asking you to participate. I'm asking you to show the movie somewhere in your community. Anywhere... together with a community group in a local theater, in a medical school, in your university, after work in the conference room, at a house party, wherever. But please get involved. You can even charge admission to recoup the costs of the Educational DVD. Heck, if you know folks with deep pockets, make a fundraiser out of it, coordinate with my schedule, and I'll fly in to attend the Q&A. (Other documentary participants are willing to attend too, schedules permitting).

Some folks have started already. Scientist Marianne Middelveen is busy setting up screenings in Alberta, Canada, Katie Yusuff is getting the University of Washington involved, and Cindy Casey is planning screenings in Texas. ILADS will be hosting a big screening of Skin Deep on Oct 31st in Boston which I am attending. (Email me to gain free admission to the Boston screening)

Skin Deep is planning a VOD release on iTunes & Amazon in Feb/Mar 2020. The reason we’re doing Educational & Community screenings FIRST is to ensure that a context of empathy and open minds accompanies the film Skin Deep, that audience members are thinking critically about the medical industry's past habits of arrogance and dismissal... so that Morgellons disease ceases to be dismissed.

We know all too well the prejudice that Morgellons disease patients face in their doctors' offices and at home. So we must each do our part to open the hearts and minds of our communities to a new understanding of Morgellons disease, an understanding that includes new scientific discoveries and--most importantly--empathy for those who suffer.

We made this together, let's show it together.
