Is The Social Security Work Slow-Down Intentional?

I'm hearing more and more about Soc Sec delays and inadequacies, particularly when a change in service is being made. These are not normal delays, but run-arounds.

People are being told one thing, then another, then back, etc., when a simple handling of the procedure would suffice.

A careful look at the situation suggests that this may be intentional - probably to make Trump's administration look bad and engender public anger.

Right Lingo, Wrong Application

When people call in, for example, they don't know what the employee is actually typing in to their file versus telling them. Calls are probably monitored, but employees can easily speak Soc Sec talk, so they sound like they are handling the call according to protocol, but in reality they are (perhaps intentionally) sending the caller in the wrong direction.

People have to call and recall and recall.

Similarly, letters are sent with with standard Soc Sec paragraphs, but inaccurately applied. But the letter looks normal to Soc Sec oversight.

This does not mean all employees, but enough to make a mess.

Recently on RMN someone posted that they worked in a government office, and they were one of the few who worked, most just stood around talking. Were some of the others sabotaging the process?

Possible Solutions

These problems may be particularly true of blue areas (e.g. greater New York - how else to make Trump look bad).

Maybe the Government Accounting Office (GAO) should look into this. They can perform audits of individual cases, which were delayed, and see what the elderperson was told, what was actually done, and whether it was the right step or misdirection causing delays.

Or, Trump could fire upper management O holdovers and appoint people who would get the job done.

Perhaps calls and letters could be rerouted to areas (probably red) where all the workers did their job and cared about the people they service. Maybe these service centers should be moved to those areas.
