About the rainforest fires in Brazil
Everyone has knee jerk reactions thinking that a forest fire means the forest is dead. Reality is far from that.

Only in extremely rare circumstances do forest fires actually kill a forest. Living trees do not burn well, if at all. You cannot cut up a live tree and burn it same day. What the forest fires in the Amazon are likely doing now is clearing out dead underbrush, and that would be a normal part of the life cycle of the rainforest.

It is highly improbable that a large number of the established trees will die. Very small saplings probably will die and burn, because a forest fire can take small trees and dry them out enough quickly for them to burn, but the old stuff is still going to be there.

There will also be scattered areas where the fires were intense enough to kill well established trees, but the final outcome is going to be a burst of new growth that is going to spawn LOTS of life, established forests are not the best places for animal species to thrive, instead, burned out areas that have a large number of young trees growing up in the aftermath are where animal life thrives the best.

The Amazon rain forest is not going to be lost just because it is burning, areas that burn will change for a short period of time and go right back to normal after about 20 years. That's not long at all in the life of a forest. I don't have a problem at all with the Amazon burning, nothing of significance will come of it long term even if leftists scream doom from the rooftops.
