As you might imagine, there were lots of similarities between healthy people all over the world.

The one thing we found that we thought was particularly important however, was a sense of purpose.

They lived longer because they had a reason to live longer.

In the West people want to live longer because they fear death.

In these healthy regions they lived longer because they loved life.

That's a huge distinction.

They live from love, passion and purpose rather than living from a place of fear.

It's also common in the West for us to always strive for some future goal – to get to a certain point in our life where, "then I can be happy. But not now." As our good friend Preston Smiles puts it.

In this episode we also talk about stress, anxiety, community, religion and spirituality.

We even discuss how these things can impact things like your microbiome.

There's so much nuance to this topic and it's really interesting to see first-hand how people in these healthy regions deal with stress.
