The decision by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele, author of the infamous “Steele dossier” used by the Obama regime to ensnare the 2016 Trump campaign in a phony “Russian collusion” scandal, is a “strategic” one that ultimately will prove the FBI “lied to Congress,” the American people, and the FISA court, according to a former federal prosecutor.

Joe diGenova told Fox News‘ Sean Hannity Tuesday night that Steele’s decision to talk to John “Bull” Durham, who was assigned to look into the origins of the collusion probe by Attorney General William Barr, no doubt was the result of an agreement between the two parties — and it won’t bode well for the deep state.

“He’s obviously made a strategic decision” to speak to Durham because he’s going to be interviewed by a federal prosecutor who can indict — “not the inspector general” for the Justice Department, Michael Horowitz, who has no such authority, diGenova said.

“He doesn’t have any reason to talk to Horowitz,” the former federal prosecutor continued. “So there’s obviously some sort of deal that’s been worked out. This is great news.”

DiGenova dismissed reports that there will be “limitations” on what sort of questions Durham can ask, saying he doesn’t believe the prosecutor would agree to them.

“But this is what’s important,” diGenova said. “[Steele] has to tell the truth to Durham. Because even though his testimony will be given overseas, he can be indicted in the United States if he lies to Durham, so I assume he’s going to tell the truth because this is the big casino now.”

The U.S. and UK have an extradition treaty for violent crimes, terrorism, and “white collar crimes” which has been in place in its current iteration since 2007.

As for the impact of Steele’s testimony, diGenova was direct: It will implicate deep state figures within U.S. federal law enforcement in the coup attempt and scandal, at a minimum. Think fired FBI Director James Comey, fired Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and fired counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, at a minimum.

“What [Steele] is gonna prove is that the FBI lied in the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] FISA warrants, and they lied to Congress, and they lied to everybody about what they knew … about Steele’s behavior,” diGenova said.

“The walls are beginning to close in on the FBI fraudsters,” he added.

Keep in mind that, according to recent reporting from The Hill‘s John Solomon and others, Steele’s role regarding the dossier was far larger than simply compiling it on behalf of Fusion GPS, the political research firm that commissioned it after being paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign through a ‘cutout’ — the Perkins Coie law firm.

In December, Steele essentially admitted he was anti-Donald Trump and wrote the dossier so that Hillary could use it to challenge the results of the 2016 election, at least in the public’s mind (which she has done and continues to do):

As reported by The Washington Times, Steele said he was paid by a Democrat-aligned law firm, Perkins Coie, to create the dossier specifically so that Hillary Clinton could challenge the 2016 election results on grounds that Moscow ‘interfered.’

Perkins Coie, previous reports have noted, served as the cut-out — an intelligence term for a ‘go-between’ — for Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm hired by Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee to find dirt on her rival, then-GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The law firm sought “to be in a position to contest the results based on evidence [Steele] unearthed on the Trump campaign conspiring with Moscow on election interference,” the Times reported.

The startling admission was made in a sealed Aug. 2 declaration in the defamation case which was brought against liberal news site Buzzfeed after publishing the unverified, uncorroborated dossier in full shortly before POTUS Trump’s inauguration in January 2017.

Way back in July 2018, we learned that — thanks to Judicial Watch — the FBI also paid Steele to produce the dossier.

Last month during an interview with Fox News, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that the Justice Department informed the FBI in August 2016 that Steele was politically compromised, a tool of the Clinton campaign, and as such his dossier could not be trusted.

Justice Department official Bruce Ohr — whose wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS, the firm that produced the dossier — testified previously under oath that he told officials at DoJ and the FBI Steele was no fan of then-GOP nominee Trump and that the dossier he produced was unverified.

“You’re supposed to say, under oath, to the [FISA] court that the document I’m presenting to you is accurate,” Graham said. “That’s the whole point of getting a warrant. You’ve got to have reliable information.

“But why is this so important?” the senator continued. “We know in August 2016 Ohr tells the FBI senior leadership, ‘You’ve gotta watch this Steele guy, he’s out to get Trump.’

“Now, what do we know?” Graham continued, adding that a Steele “went to the Department of State on October 11 (2016) to try and get [the department] to release the dossier to the public for political reasons.”
