Peace within...what does that mean?

The earth births you, and your death is inevitable.
Earth is a death world. The living kill to live.
From death springs new life.

And then there are humans.

Are you at peace with the way the earth works.
Are you at peace with what humans do?
Are you at peace with life and what it does?

(Is there a better word to use than, peace?)

When you acknowledge the temporary situation you are in for your lifetime, that anything can happen at anytime, are you still at peace?

To be at peace inside, you must be at peace with whatever people do, and earth and life does, no matter what they do. Can you do it? Do you do it? Are you at peace with life, or do you mostly complain about what people do, complain about the weather, complain about what life does and what life does to you?

Can you be pleasant inside when earth is unpleasant, when people do unpleasant things, when life is unpleasant?

If you become unpleasant–unpeaceful, stressed, irritated, upset, angry, violent, depressed, anxious, distressed and afraid–are there consequences that create additional unpleasantness? Do you compound outer unpleasantness with inner-unpleasantness? Is there value, are there benefits in creating an inner storm when it storms outside? Are you at peace when life doesn’t go your way? Or do you rage against the machine? Do you rage against earth, people, life, when they do not meet your expectations, do not fulfill your mental, emotional and physical needs, wants and desires?

ARE YOU OK WITH LIFE DOING WHAT IT DOES, or do you get upset with life when things happen to your loved ones? Maybe you don’t get upset with life doing what it does, but instead just get upset? If you get upset, why? Have you analyzed your reaction? Have you analyzed the consequences to yourself, to the people around you?

When something unpleasant happens, is getting upset just a human auto-reaction, an uncontrollable reaction, with negative consequences, or can a person control his reaction and get positive consequences?

IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE: stay at peace and pleasant inside and reap beneficial consequences or get stressed and unpleasant inside and reap harmful consequences?

YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE, because if you work at it, you can control your mind and emotions to stay at peace and pleasant inside no matter how unpleasant outside.

If you refuse to control your mind and emotions about what life inevitably does without your permission (and will continue to do even until your dead) then at least you’ll be able to say, “I tried to moan, groan and complain my way to happiness, and it almost worked, except for that time I stressed so much I had a heart-attack and fell of the-cliff-of-my-own-despair”).
