WHAT VALUE IS THERE IN REALIZING LIFE IS A JOKE?

You can’t be entertained and laugh about life if you think everything is serious, important, so....life is more enjoyable, more fun, a blast–even being old for the first time, even accidents, injury, sickness and death (“...and a good time was had by all who were awake, but, as to the asleep, well...they were just to friggin serious to enjoy it all”).

What’s one of the first clues that life isn’t serious? Well...it is kinda temporary, even short lived, and your entry into the game of life that is a joke just HAPPENS, and life didn’t even bother to ask you for your permission, didn’t take the time to ask if you wanted to be born into a mafia crime family, a hobo village or moments before a Tsunami wiped out the whole island with you gently floating out to sea--a shark appetizer. Congratulations.

Maybe you have a better memory than I do, but I can’t recall asking to be born in Germany, white, average IQ, mundane looks, silly grin, freckles, male, and too short to be a serious basketball player and an emotional midget that pisses people off because I think everything is funny, especially, especially religion, philosophy and humans in general thinking they’re smart know it-alls who can’t do anything except answer their body’s urgent calls to “...get the hell out of the rain, drink something, eat something and build me a shelter already or we’re gonna freeze, you idiot,” all the while thinking they are Gods, or singing the song, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” but still can’t set the clocks on the VCRS that do not exist anymore.

If you can’t enjoy the joke because you take life seriously, well...maybe next time you can come back as a thumb tack or a refrigerator magnet. Those seem to have some utilitarian purpose, unlike humans who were invented for God’s pleasure and entertainment. I wonder if he she it they whatever are still laughing. I think I can hear the laughter. Life, the joke, get it?
