Took a nap, woke up at 4pm hoping I had slept 40 days. Dammit! On the bright side, I woke up facing the sun.

My mind is already having withdrawals, and my body isn’t even hungry. Can’t wait until both my mind and body start doing combat. I’ll just let them beat the chips out of each other (I’d like one, yes please). It’ll be like being in a movie where two people are fighting to the death and their getting closer and closer to where the food is hidden.

I’ve been alive 719,040 hours (25,815 days)

so not eating for

40 days out of 25,855 days
isn’t so long.

The heck you say.

40 days fasting out of 25,855 eating, is only missing out.0015% of the grub I coulda ate.

I’ll only miss out on 120 meals out of 77,565 meals (based on 3 meals a day).

Some people work really hard to accomplish goals. They climb “impossible” mountains, run “ridiculous” distances and do astonishing physical and mental feats. The list is endless of people who challenge themselves.

Well, 40 days without eating is my challenge. Why 40 days? Because 39 days just doesn’t seem long enough and 41 days is insane.

Why now, at age 70 + 8 months? If I wait much longer I’ll be fasting in a grave. Anyway, it sounds more interesting and challenging if I do it while alive.

I think I’ll watch a movie. I wonder if they make liquid popcorn.

TUESDAY (TODAY)

Woke up at 5 am. First thought: Fasting is a stupid. And fasting for 40 days is insane. I'm nuts.

“SHUT UP! We’re doing this.”

I did the Utah shuffle through 7 inches of snow to my office. Micro-zapped yesterdays coffee, made some fresh coffee, lit a cigarette....”aaaaah.” Life is...life is...mmmm...sucks without Twinkies.

Want the perfect recipe to pee a lot? Last night I got up only once an hour. Coffee and water, the perfect recipe.

8:21 am in Utah. No hunger pangs.

Watched a video on fasting. They’re nuts.

Wrote on my white board: FOCUS ON THE BENEFITS. If not NOW, when (referring to not eating)? Don’t focus on the 40 days, just on right now, this moment.

“Are you feeling good right now?”

“Yes.”

“Well then cheer up, it won’t last.”

10:40 am

I was just attacked by a one pound chunk of Puffed Rice “krispie” Treats that my wife made a couple of days ago. My mind started playing pictures of me eating this sweet and healthy natural organic health food. I wanted to give in. Yummmmie. I have been eating some for breakfast every morning the last two months. My stomach is growling. Why am I doing this? Because it’s not easy, because it’s hard, because I can, because you enter a “magic” place, a conscious realization and connection to the intelligent energy that is life.

“So what...where’s the grub.”

12:30 pm.

Been 24 hours. 936 hours to go. Day one in the bucket.

The hardest days are the first three. After that it gets impossible.

MONDAY

12:30 pm mountain time, 21 January 2019, day - one - of fast

MY TOBACCO, COFFEE, WATER FAST (40 days - 960 hours)

I don’t live in LA so to make up for it I’m smoking a pack of cigarettes a day (LA air equals 2 packs) and I’m only drinking coffee and water. This is a 40 day fast. I will not be eating any food, no smoothies, no carrot juice, just water, tobacco-air and coffee for 960 hours.

It’s already been 20 minutes. Doing good so far.

I’m 70 years old and got some pain; I’m gonna get rid of it, so I started by telling my brother-in-law to move out and find his own place.

Wow, this is easy...22 minutes and I still feel OK.
