The smoke becomes much more visible as the sun hits it at a side angle towards sunset.

Everything from the Canada border across Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and of course BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.... even reaching down now into Mexico."
