I knew this because I finally found out my father in law had this. He would pull his shades down because the lights hurt his eyes. When he would tell a Doctor they would always try to prescribe antidepressants. He wasn't depressed, the light hurt his eyes, hence he wanted the curtains to block the light. He wasn't sad! I found out about light sensitivity being a symptom of iodine deficiency. Once he got enough iodine, his sensitivity went away.

I forgot all about it (this was years ago when I took care of him) and this spring the sunlight was really bothering me, I had to wear sunglasses all the time and felt like a vampire! It took me awhile, but I finally remembered and started taking my iodine. (I use celtic sea salt and needed more than it has available in it naturally.) Most likely because of my thyroid issues.

There are several brands, Lugol's, Mike Adams (Health Ranger Store) has some I believe, called Nascent Iodine. Global Health has a good brand I tried. There are tablets if you don't like the taste, Amazon carries Ioderal, you can start with the stronger tablet at first. It took about a week or so and now I am back to normal, no light sensitivity in the full summer sun!
