It seems that the "die has been cast" and Israel will respond to Iran's blow caused by the bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the death of 7 senior Tehran officials.

Commenting on this, retired senior US Army officer Douglas McGregor said:

“Netanyahu has to escalate to survive politically, but if he drags the US into this, we will end up fighting Russia directly. Most of the US political class is bought and paid for by the Israeli lobby, unfortunately hate has taken over Israel. Iranians don't want war. Such a war will be the end of the EU and NATO"

Iran has the largest and most diverse arsenal of ballistic missiles in the Middle East, more than 3,000 in total, and last night it launched only about 150.

Most were acquired from foreign sources, primarily North Korea. The Islamic Republic is the only country to have developed a 2,000km missile without first possessing a nuclear weapons capability.

Iran's indigenous family of Fateh -110 solid-fuel missiles has achieved the accuracy required to reliably destroy military and critical targets, as demonstrated in its January 2020 strike against US forces stationed at Ayn al Asad Air Base in Iraq using Zolfaghar missiles.

Iran's space program, which includes the successful launch of several small, low-Earth orbit satellites using Safir and Qased rockets, demonstrates the country's growing ambitions and technical prowess.

After several failed launches between 2016 and 2022, the larger, more powerful Simorgh successfully placed three satellites into orbit in early 2024. (excerpts)
