Dr. Dhand mentions that the vasculature gets "stiffer" with age. If you add to that, and other variables, AND vascular "hardening", it makes greater difficulty pumping blood where it is needed. The macula is VERY sensitive to blood flow, as well as the brain, and if you lower the blood pressure too greatly, macular and thinking difficulties are apt to manifest. I always thought that studies should be done to determine the maximal blood pressure for the very best macular function. But then, we need all these side symptoms/maladies in order to keep BIG Pharma in excellent health!!
