Disney, once a mass producer of greatest hits at the box office, is now experiencing another series of hits as it absorbs blow after blow from underperforming “woke” movies that, all told, are expected to cost the company nearly a billion dollars in lost revenue.

Breitbart estimates that Disney will be forced to report nearly $750 million in losses across 13 movies that failed to meet their studio budgets this year. Many of the titles garnered headlines for controversial diversity castings or progressive narratives that included gay and non-binary characters.

Among the biggest losers is Disney's re-imaging of The Little Mermaid. Released in May, the film spent $325 million and needed $650 million to break even; it ultimately grossed $570 million globally, producing a net loss of $40 million.

Similarly, “Elementals,” an animated film about periodic table characters featuring a non-binary supporting cast member, lost $1.5 million. But the biggest loss was reserved for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” which lost $158 million. Not far behind was “The Marvels,” which featured an all-female cast and leading liberal actress Brie Larson who contributed to $150 million in losses.

Disney will close out a terrible year that builds off historic losses in 2022, including “Lightyear,” an animated film about “Toy Story” character Buzz Lightyear and which Breitbart reports featured several LGBT plotlines.

Not content with box office losses, conservatives have also led a revolt against the company’s Disney+ streaming service, which lost a mammoth $512 million in just the first quarter of 2023 and brings total streaming losses to more than $11 billion. The service lost nearly 12 million subscribers during that time.

Robert Iger, who came back from retirement to save the company from itself, has battled poor growth amid a politicized climate that saw the Florida-based company tangle with Governor Ron DeSantis. While Disney weathered the loss of its special state tax status, the feud was enough to propel it into the middle of an election season climate where brands like Bud Light, Skittles, and UFC are being pressured to reject woke marketing campaigns and return to basic customer service.
