I've been looking at the historical newspapers, and noticed something: Long Ago In The 1880s and later, people stated where they lived in the newspaper! Odd, Ain't It?

Have an opinion to print? They printed ALL THE OPINIONS then, and then you stated where you lived at the end. Your Colt .45 says you wouldn't be bothered.

Going on a vacation to the Adirondacks? They printed who you were and where you were going. The neighbors buckshot rifles says your place would be A-OK.

Have you been selected for Grand Jury? No problem! Here's a list of ALL THE JURORS, their trade and where they lived!

Due to simpler printed licenses, people had to post this blurb in the classifieds: "After this date, I will no longer be responsible for any debts contracted after this date". So and So, then address. Does anyone know the full story of WHY we stopped doing this? I found these entries even in the 1940s.

There were no hunting or fishing licenses in the 1880s. Government was a LOT smaller. Newspapers had a good chance and being fair and balanced.

You know what else? Everyone was a concrete thinker, and no abstract paintings or drawings were allowed, except for the three-ball snow figure kids made with wood charcoal or coal pieces. In 1882 Vincent Van Gogh hadn't painted "Starry Night" yet, but when he did, he said it was "A bridge too far..." and that "he had sunk into the background".

I get a feeling that roving caravans with monkeys and such must have had a few abstract thinkers then, and they were sent on their way.

There were lots of problems even when everyone thought concretely then. So how is it you think all our current problems will be solved by thinking abstractly? That's a nightmare the AI businesses are not willing to face. It costs $700K per day to run ChatGPT, so in 2024 your addiction to many AI things will come to an end.

Please try reading newspapers from 142 years ago. It's eye opening.
