I’ve seen this over the years as an EMS worker in a heavily populated area of California (unfortunately) and have seen the policies enable these issues and make them worse, further fueling the mental health crisis. Homelessness has gotten worse and the mental health of people has been deteriorating for a decade now. When I was on the bus these types of calls were roughly 75% of the calls dispatched, if not more, on any given day…

My father was a WWII veteran and I loved him. He taught me to be a proud American. It saddens me that I am seriously thinking of leaving this country for a more Nationalistic one like an Eastern block (sic) country. I can't handle this crap anymore. If I was young, I would stay and fight but I'm not. I'm old and tired.

Psych nurse here with 15+ years experience. We are full 24/7 and people stacked in the ED waiting for bed availability (no beds in the entire state). I see patients cycling through various facilities- folks unable to care for themselves and no support on the outside.
