Noise that one cannot escape from is tortuous. Now, more than ever before, people believe the world revolves around them. We are just in their world. One example would be, in my neighborhood they begin celebrating the 4th of July at least a few weeks beforehand. The day before, the day & a few after that are ridiculous with fire works. Hours without end. Sometimes until_2:30 in the morning. I get people want to celebrate, but they don't consider anyone else in the neighborhood.

For me, it’s enduring a noisy restaurant with people at the next table. My husband says “Just shut it out!” Well I can’t! I am a very auditory person. Very sensitive to sound in general. If I am working on a writing project, I have to sit in a quiet room so I can concentrate. I absolute relate to your reaction to the noise. I once sold a house and moved because of the noisy cement trucks that would not stop traveling down my country road.
