I can totally understand your reluctance to get the "eye injections" after all we have learned about the nefarious uses of injections. There is work being done on a port delivery system, to take the place of injections. Gene therapy is in the pipeline, but still needing research. Lifestyle changes may be the best option at early stages of AMD. DON'T SMOKE, don't eat "junk food", get regular exercise, wear sunglasses, get a balanced diet - lots of green leafy veggies and LOTS OF COLOR in your diet, as well as fatty fish like salmon (NOT FARMED!!) vitamin supplements can help - usually recommended are:

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 500 mg

Vitamin E 400 international units (IU)

Lutein 10 mg

Zeaxanthin 2 mg

Zinc (as zinc oxide) 80 mg

Copper (as cupric oxide) 2 mg

Ask your ophthalmologist if vitamins and supplements might help you. ALWAYS check with your doctor/ophthalmologist before making any changes on your own! I'm sure you have searched for any info on the internet, but keep checking, as there are a number of treatment options in clinical trials that may be approved with time.

I lost the whole lower half of the vision in my right eye - thanks to Lyme. I truly know how scary vision changes/loss can be. Keep your sensors alert for Med Bed availability in the near future. That will be a blessing for so many people! I am NOT a doctor, but rather a certified surgical/back office Tech. So, accept these insights with that in mind. I just remembered reading an article some time ago about the benefits of acupuncture, however, I have not seen conclusive data to that effect. It certainly can't hurt, unless you are a "needle phobe"!! I certainly understand your concerns and wish you ALL the very best treatment options in the near future!
