I would’ve laughed at this thought had I not seen the new trailer for the Barbie movie which even has regular millennial podcaster bros selecting to see this new Barbie movie before Oppenheimer, which will both be released on July 21

.

Take a look at the trailer and you’ll see what I mean ; Barbie has gone existential ! She’s questioning her little dreamworld in Barbie land.
Played by the beautiful actress Margot Robbie, (who was born for this role —notice she even has the doll’s name hidden into her stage name), Barbie takes off for a journey into the real world where all
the non-Barbies exist.

It’s not a man’s world anymore…. The devine feminine is back through Barbie. Yes, that’s right Barbie !

If the movie is as good as the trailer we’re in for a real treat !

*** as a sidenote, I just found out that the artist who sang the song Barbie girl in the 90s was called aqua

I never cared for that song, and I don’t believe it’s implemented in the new movie as I heard Mattel is not too fond of it either.

( Funny, maybe I was a Barbie girl growing up and especially in my early 20s. I really didn’t know it at the time. But yes, being born in ‘62 I was right there in the mist of all the Barbie craze. My older sisters had some of the merch and I even was passed down the original paper, Barbie house, which we had to tape up the legs of the furniture.
I loved my Malibu Barbie most of all and I did have a ken doll. My sisters had the first Ken doll and we had to glue his head back on constantly.

I preferred to pair up my Barbie with my brother’s G.I., Joe doll, which I guess I liked the juxtaposition of masculine muscleman with blonde bombshell Barbie.

It seems every girl in the neighborhood had Barbies, and we often played with all of our dolls and accoutrements all combined.
Being barely middle class, I didn’t receive a lot of Barbie stuff at Christmas time, but there was one year where my dream came true and I got the Barbie camper which I still own today. In fact, I have a lot of mine and my sisters dolls and clothes still —that are preserved in toilet paper and boxes when I was too old to play with them anymore, which was like in sixth grade.
I somehow thought I was mummifying them. ) 🤣
