After Tienanmen Square happened, and the dust settled, we thought the CCP was at last understanding that their citizens wanted more freedom. We thought China was ready to come into the next century and join the rest of the world. How wrong we turned out to be. But, what was it that gave us hope? I believe it was China opening up economically.
Jiang Zamin led China as president in the years following Tienanmen Square. He gave up his title in 2004 but would continue to influence many areas until his death twenty years later in 2022. He brought China out of isolation following the protests by crushing any pro-democracy groups. That should have been our first clue.
It was his leadership that steered China through such changes as market oriented reforms that fooled President Clinton and many other Americans that China was indeed ready to join the rest of the world. Especially in areas such as commerce and Beijing joining the WTO in 2001. A move I thought was myopic in the extreme. What in the world ever possessed our government at the time, to believe anything Jiang said, I will never understand. Joining the rest of the world was not what Jiang had in mind.
First of all, Westerners need to understand that China believes that this is their century to dominate the other nations of the world. They will ingratiate their way into the fold by talking a good game. But the reality can be seen in how they handled the return of Hong Kong from British rule in 1997. And Majorca from Portuguese rule a year later. If the world, and especially the residents of Hong Kong thought they were going to be able to continue enjoying their democracy and independence they’d been promised, they were as deluded as America was.
The pictures that were filtered through of how so many Hong Kong citizens were welcomed back to Chinese control, with their heads under the CCP’s jackboot. That should have been our second clue. Did Clinton not see this coming? Did he fail to notice the religious groups that were being persecuted for their faith? Didn’t any of the world’s leaders see how many were sent to reeducation camps? Xi Jinping’s own father and he were sent to camps for reeducation. I don’t know about his father, but it appears to have worked for Xi as he has continued allowing the abuse of Falun Gong and other religious groups.
Recent arrests of a Chinese police station on U.S. soil should send shivers down your spine. Their goal is to shame Chinese dissidents who, wanting to live in freedom, relocated to America. Xi continues to punish people who escaped the harshness of the CCP control, by not allowing the people here to have any contact with family members still in China. Clue number three?
We need to stop turning a blind eye to China’s many human rights violations like that practiced on the Falun Gong spiritual group. Word has filtered out, along with grisly pictures , as proof of organ harvesting without even anesthetic being given. What kind of monsters would engage in such a practice just because they view the religious group as a threat to the Communist Party?
Beijing shouldn’t be sitting on their laurels over the economic reforms that led to at least a decade of economic growth either. They had the people of other countries, mostly the United States, helping to fuel that growth. Understand that the motive behind nearly everything they do is just one more calculated step toward global domination. In other words, they do not play nice with others. When it looks like they are, ask yourself, “What’s in it for them? What is their real motive?”
As I stated in an earlier article, America is too blind to those motives and far too trusting. And the UK is suffering from colonial whiplash.
I would say that Jiang’s affable exterior, playing the piano and singing, which sounded like a cat trying to climb a rain spout, might have been what fooled Clinton and so many Americans. I wasn’t able to overlook the many challenges to his Communist rule and how Jiang dealt so savagely with them. A young Chinese girl at one of the restaurants my husband and I frequent, said upon learning the Xi Jinping had taken over the leadership in China, “I have hopes for my country now. He has such a kind face.” I didn’t have the heart to tell her what I thought. Different face, same CCP.
The son of a friend of mine married a girl from Beijing. I met her and ate some of the more traditional food she made for us. Although my friend’s daughter-in-law seemed like a nice woman, I wasn’t able to overlook the fact that she had been raised in Beijing. She was certainly steeped in Communist philosophy. When she and my friend’s son divorced, she gave up any attempt at full custody. He is the one raising their two boys. Her career trajectory was more important, especially once she was hired by the Department of Defense. I was instantly suspicious. And why would any of our more sensitive agencies hire someone born in a Communist country like China, and without a doubt, thoroughly in lockstep with their philosophy. That is taking Globalism to a dangerous level, in my opinion. Will she turn out to be a mole or a sleeper cell? Time will tell. She might be just what she portrays herself as.
Of course, not all Chinese nationals are in agreement with the CCP philosophy. They need our support. They need above all else to see that we aren’t supporting or even approving of the CCP’s methods of maintaining control of the population. The Chinese leadership were startled by the Falun Gong’s ability to appeal to so many people, even in the military. So, in clear opposition to their own laws, they sentenced members up to 12 years in prison for subversive activity. If Clinton thought that Jiang was going to allow China to be more welcoming to organizations like the Falun Gong, he needed to have his thinking examined. “Stability above all else”, was one of Jiang’s favorite phrases. Nothing has changed just because Xi Jinping is the leader of the CCP now. In an interview with Epoch Time’s Jen Jekielek, Nury Turdel, a Chinese born, but naturalized American, said that, The CCP treats people of faith as though they carry an infectious disease (that) needs to be cured.” These are the people sent to the camps for reeducation. Reeducation is a code word for human re engineering.
In the meantime, the explosion of fentanyl is, I believe, a two-fold stick in the eye of America. The Chinese are well aware that our children are our future. So, they are going after them. I believe that it is also payback for the opium that plagued China in the 1800’s. Opium that was supplied by Great Britain and the U.S. Turn about is fair play! So today, our government, Wall Street, and academia, especially are turning a blind eye to the massive amounts of drugs coming in through our southern border, along with, now hundreds of young Chinese men. Is that part of the promised Chinese invasion many have claimed was coming? Or have we already been invaded? How many of our politicians are beholden to the CCP?
Trump understood these things. The People need to understand as well. We will have religious freedom under a Trump administration. I hope we will return to a closing off of our borders. And Trump knew how to handle the CCP. Leading by example is slow, but probably the best way to go. So, I have some questions to ask. I’ll start off with the same question I asked in fifth grade about the Soviet Union. “ If communism is such a wonderful system to live under, why do they have to build walls topped with barbed-wire to keep people from escaping. I don’t see anybody fighting to get in.”
If the Asians are so brilliant, (and many of them are) why does China have to move their spies over here to our universities and corporations? Aren’t they smart enough to create whatever they need? Why do they need to rely on American brain power? Why are they threatened by a spiritual group like Falun Gong? Why do we believe in the one hand of friendship offered and ignore the knife in our back held by the other hand?
