Putin Unleashes Missiles In Ukraine, Killing At Least 8

(Republicaninformer.com)- Last Thursday, Russia launched the latest round of missile strikes throughout Ukraine, killing at least nine people and temporarily knocking out power in Kyiv, Reuters reported.

The mass missile strikes, which included six Kinzhal hypersonic cruise missiles, was the first wave of strikes far outside the front lines since mid-February, ending the longest lull in attacks since Russia began its air strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure last October.

Thursday’s strikes also briefly shut down Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said of the strikes that hit civil infrastructure and residential buildings in ten regions of the country that Russia is attempting to “terrorize” civilians and warned that Moscow would not “avoid responsibility” for what it has done.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Thursday’s missile attacks were a “massive retaliatory strike” in response to cross-border raids earlier this month. The ministry claimed all of its intended targets were hit, including drone bases destroyed, railways disrupted, and arms manufacturing facilities damaged.

Reuters reported that a home in the village of Zolochiv in the western Lviv region was destroyed by a missile, killing those inside. Another civilian was reportedly killed in the central Dnipro region while three others in Kherson were reported killed by artillery fire.

The attack prompted a seven-hour alert in Kyiv through the night, marking the longest such alert since the missile attacks began five months ago.

Moscow confirmed that Russia’s Kinzhal (“dagger”) hypersonic cruise missiles, which Ukraine has no means to shoot down, were also used in Thursday’s attack. According to Ukrainian officials, this was the first time so many of the hypersonic missiles have been used in one barrage.

While the Kremlin maintains that its massive missile strikes are designed to reduce Ukraine’s ability to fight, Ukrainian officials say that the missile strikes are of no military value and are instead designed to terrorize the civilian population.
