...so the idea that child sexual predators are now being meted out justice at Gitmo is not difficult to believe.

What I'm disinclined to believe is that Elijah Wood is one such predator. I think it's possible that he might be - he entered the world of Hollywood at a pretty young age and might possibly have been molested along the way, inculcating a 'bent' way of looking at the world - but it's also possible that he wasn't. It may have depended on how one or more of his parents watched over him during those early years.

Baxter's article seems to me inauthentic. His words would associate the concept of "the precious" with the character Frodo and from there to actor Wood. True, Frodo is depicted as beginning to come under the spell of the ring, but it's the character Gollum who has the concept of "the precious".

Further, Baxter's words suggest Wood had "burned through" whatever cash he had - hard to believe, actually, given the importance of the character Frodo and the amount of time Wood was on camera during the course of the trilogy of films. I would expect royalties are still coming in and being received by Wood and other actors who played key characters.

Baxter's words then leave us to infer a connection between Wood's being broke and thoughts given him by openly-gay Ian McKellen, that young boys "could be seduced with cash or promises of acting roles", and subsequent predatory behavior.

Baxter suggests Wood's career had "tanked" after LOTR. Wood's Wikipedia page, however, shows he's been pretty busy, with acting, voice acting, and producer credits in film and television.

The latter portion of Baxter's article deals with "venture capitalist named Craig Meiselman". That portion feels more substantial and I don't know what to make of it. Meanwhile, for what it's worth, Wood's Wikipedia page says: "In 2019, Wood and Danish film producer Mette-Marie Kongsved had their first child together, a boy."
