Maybe it's just my imagination, but I have seen an alarming number of cards compromised in the last couple of months. It isn't as though it has never happened before, but it seems to be gathering steam in occurrence.

With my card, recently, I made a one time purchase on Amazon and the crooks decided I must want to be an Amazon customer forever and started taking a fee out of my account every month.I had to cancel my card. And, when I got my new one, it was 'special'. All I had to do was tap my card on the card machine for a purchase payment and all of my bank information was miraculously captured.

I may not be the brightest star in the sky, but isn't that all a thief would have to do if they stole my card, just tap it? How secure is that? No one has to try to guess your pin number anymore. How convenient for thieves.

My next wonderful experience with bank cards more recently, was when I returned a purchase at a Walmart Customer Service counter.I started to hand the girl my husbands card, as it was used for the purchase, and she said she didn't need it as they already had the information captured. She also shifted her eyes instead of looking at me. Hmm.

Just as soon as we left there, we found out later, there were purchases made on his card from one coast to the other. At eleven that night, Shazam sent him a text about it and to let him know they had cancelled his card. He would have to call his bank in the morning to order a new card. No doubt with the same feature of just tapping the machine to use.

If these were the only occurrences, I would just think we'd had a run of bad luck. But, several people we know have had the same situation happen to them. What is going on? Why wasn't I just given another card like the old one. Why wasn't I at least given the option to decide if I wanted the 'improved' card?

Being the paranoid skeptic that I am, I'm tempted to wrap it in several layers of foil and put it in a safe or a farady cage and use money for most purchases. It actually made me wonder if this is the next step on the way to the chip in the hand or the forehead, as I could envision at least thousands of people who experience bank accounts drained by these new 'secure' cards. TPTB to the rescue with the solution. Of course, the chip implanted under the skin would be sold as really secure.

With so many online companies keeping your bank card information, there is nothing to stop one of their employees from using it for their own purchases. These companies surely don't think all of their employees are honest, do they?

It's almost as bad as giving your full social security number to someone. Oh, by the way, most businesses and doctor's office staff will ask you for the last four of your social for verification that they are talking to the right person. But, recently, I have had some ask for the first three. Be very careful if that happens. It doesn't take much effort if they have the right software to come up with the other two numbers when your last four are floating all over the web.

Maybe it is my age, but I'm not real comfortable with so much of my information available to whomever. And, I'm not believing that "It's All Good!" as most recent WOKE-tards like to say.

Just sit down sometime and list everyone who has information that could be used to track you or worse. How many things are registered to your name, phone, residence, bank information, licenses, permits, etc. Have some anti-acids nearby when you do.
