LLMD=Lyme literate medical doctor - a rare critter who knows proper diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease, in its MANY facets.

The LLMD who diagnosed my Lyme disease told me straight out that my labs most likely would be normal - I had the disease for SO LONG, potentially since birth, incorrectly diagnosed - AND THEY WERE NORMAL!! So, my LLMD said that we would start treating the Lyme for about 6 weeks and retest. In 6 weeks, there would be enough die off of the spirochetes that my body would start reacting normally and get with the program - AND THE TEST RESULTS CAME BACK HIGHLY POSITIVE THE SECOND TIME!!!!! The rest is history, as they say. My LLMD told me that there was a slim to none chance of totally curing the Lyme - after SO MANY YEARS of the spirochetes getting into every nook and cranny of my body, there was little chance that treatment could find and wipe out every last spirochete. So, here I am with chronic late stage Lyme disease, flaring up when something sets it off and needing more aggressive treatment, and then cutting back to "maintenance mode" once again for years on end. I was SO VERY FORTUNATE to have a LLMD who knew the ropes with Lyme disease, or else I would have continued on going from doctor to doctor and getting ever more wrong diagnoses AND spending ever more $$$!! And so it goes.
