In Costa Rica we have had cases of children dissapearing that fit 411.

They are found kilometers away from where they were last seen, their shoes missing, and clotes backwards or inside out.

But here we attribute those cases to "duendes" (they are like leprechauns or gnomes) since the kids always describe them as the people who took them.
The kids tend to tell that the duendes invite them to play with them. The kids accept and play with them for what appears to be several minutes, but when they stop the kids realized that actualy several hours have passed and that they are now far away from their homes.

A family friend went through this, and I have had old relatives who described brief encounters with them but refused to play with them since they have heard the stories about the kids dissapearing and were warned by they parents to avoid them.

Forgot to mention that all this cases always take place in rural areas.

Here in the Philippines, we have dwende (duende) which is categorized as "engkanto" {spirit like beings}. They also love to play tricks. A famous one that is known by almost ALL Filipinos is that when you're travelling whether by foot or vehicle and you feel as if you've been going in circles, it means that you're being toyed around and you would have to wear your clothes inside out.

When I was in my early teens, maybe 12-14 yo, I once saw two robed people on top of a hill in woods that were close to where my family was living then. One of them was playing a violin or violin-type instrument. I was far away enough so that they didn't notice me or didn't care. I found it really bizarre and creepy but just kept on going. I never told anyone of it and didn't really know what to think of it back then, I kind of assumed it was maybe some kind of weird performance art thing.

But over the years as I've stumbled upon more and more lore about the fae I've occasionally wondered that maybe they weren't human at all. They were just so out of place with their medieval full body robes, just hanging out on a hilltop. This happened in Finland and we certainly have a very rich lore of fae type beings here and it's very consistent with the other lore about them, down to the thing about people being taken to strange places or made invisible to others. I've never stumbled upon anything specific about violin playing robed entities, and for all I know they could have been human, but it was such a weird, uncanny encounter.

The forest, despite being very close to civilization, definitively had a kind of a vibe to it. I used to go out walking there quite a lot and there were couple of instances where I started feeling really odd and alarmed without any immediate reason. These cases may have been something subconscious about wild animals being near, there were certainly occasionally moose and deers there, but they were still kinda strange.

In retrospect I was kinda headstrong and dumb to wander around there so much by myself. I also remember going out there in the middle of a night with some friends as a kid to see fireflies which we saw in plenty. Finnish people have kind of a different relationship to local nature than a lot of other europeans, I think, and my parents were mostly just happy that I was getting some fresh air and excercise.

Eventually the forest was largely cut down, harvested for lumber. I can't remember if I saw those hooded figures before or after this, but I do think it was after it. Visibility to the hill wouldn't have probably been good enough for me to see them if the woods had been intact. Maybe it's a strange thought, but perhaps whatever it was out there was mourning the loss of forest back then.
