my comment: This potential conflict has been brewing for several months, if not longer. The Iranians claim that the Israelis have been working behind the scenes with the Muslims of Azerbaijan to have a war against Iran. Israel may have offered military equipment, satellite services, military advisors, and missile defenses if Azerbaijan will go to war against Iran.
Since Iran shares their northern border with Azerbaijan, this situation to them is a direct threat against their country. In response they have activated their military to line up on the border region and place themselves ready for war. The Iranians have also said they can attack first, rather than waiting for an offensive move against their nation.
At the same time, Israel may have other nations willing to attack Iran from other locations. In addition to that, it is well known that the Israelis have been planning a pre-emptive air attack on Iran to destroy all of their offensive missile abilities before they can be launched against Israel. Since it is very possible Iran already has a few nukes in their arsenal, Israel feels that they can't wait until Iran has even more nukes on missiles that would threaten the state of Israel.
This is one of the major hot spots in the world that has a real possibility of breaking out into a war, and could go nuclear. Once it begins, it could escalate into a major war within hours or mere days. Each side believes they MUST go to war or be annihilated - and they both have religious fervor to back up their opposing stands. No one can predict what will happen or when it might start, but the risk is real and it appears we are getting closer to a major break out of war. George Eaton
