I work/volunteer/making the boxes, do the ordering & distribution of the food for a small food bank in the Northwest. We used to serve (pre covid) about 22-25 families, during covid, it rose to 72 families for a "normal" box & another 125-150 every week for what they called Farmers to Families boxes, we did this with a staff of under 10 volunteers.

When they upped the SNAP (or food stamps) benefits, I noticed a drop in the families we saw, when I saw some of them, I'd ask how they were doing & that we hadn't seen them for a while. Almost every one said they were doing okay, the extra SNAP was sure helping out.

This month those extra benefit's stopped, and guess what? Almost everybody's back, and they're needing, specific items, cooking oil, fruits, vegetables, bread, pancake mix, kid snacks.

Since our county has only 4 grocery stores(no Wal Marts, Costco's) & I've watched the prices in three of them, I get what the problem is.....I just know if they don't up the benefits,I know that the smaller food bank's won't be able to keep up with the demand, as most of the donation's that came in when Covid "struck" have all dried up.

This is all just my humble opinion & observation!!
