In a well-announced practice exercise, the Michigan Air National Guard practiced take-offs and landings of military fighter aircraft on PUBLIC HIGHWAY M-32 outside of Alpena, Michigan today.

The exercise lasted from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM local time.

Making the exercise strange was that electrical power was completely cut off to the City of Alpena during the entire exercise.

This was likely a safety gesture as there are electrical utility polls along the public highway they were using.

Had there been a mishap, the last thing anyone needed was electrical wires coming down onto the mishap.
Yet, this exercise does point to very serious things:

1) The United States armed forces are now actively practicing operations as if the country had been attacked, bases destroyed, and an invasion having taken place.

2) Electricity may end up being cut to entire regions for extended periods of time, over military operations.

This is yet another reason for citizens to be prepared with battery-powered Communications gear, such as CB radios or HAM radios in each family vehicle and a base station at the family house, or General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) or Family Radio Service (FRS) base units and walkie-talkies. These will allow short range communication with neighbors and family, but HAM has extended range but requires FCC licensing. The others mentioned above, do NOT require licenses.

This military exercise also points to the need for an emergency power generator with spare fuel to operate it, so as to provide electricity for Refrigerators, freezers, and perhaps a light or two and perhaps communications gear, during an emergency.

Many rational people will be wondering to themselves why the US military is practicing as though the nation has been attacked, bases destroyed, and/or an invasion has taken place?

The answer to that question should serve to tell every reader that things in our world have deteriorated to a level that none of us have ever experienced or contemplated: An invasion of OUR country and widespread DESTRUCTION of OUR military bases.

That such contingencies are now being openly rehearsed, should make readers realize: Something wicked this way comes.
