Here we go again. Since the '70s and probably before that, the FDA has tried to go after supplements/herbal companies, either banning their products or trying to get them under their total control. Why? Many reasons.
They can say it's to ensure the safety of the American people. But, if that were really true, they'd be banning far more pharmaceuticals than natural substances. Oh, wait, they let Big Pharma test their own products. So, how would they know if they are safe and effective?
What was the number of deaths last year from the 'correct' use of pharmaceuticals? I believe it was over 200,000. And that was just in hospitals. What was the number for in-home and nursing homes? Does anyone keep track of those numbers?
I have always believed that the FDA is trying to help their Big Pharma buddies. That is why many substances are banned, because they are one of the ingredients in a pharmaceutical like HCG for instance. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. Or NAC, an amino acid. Or is it because they work as good or better than a drug without the often dangerous/deadly side effects?
The FDA suggests that you consult with a health care professional before using any dietary supplement. That would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Most doctors don't have time to keep up with new drugs on the market, much less supplements and herbals. That is why they rely on drug salesmen for their information.
That's a disaster waiting to happen. I'm sure that drug salesmen of these huge drug companies are more concerned about the safety of their product than their sales quota, right?
I witnessed this incestuous relationship firsthand as I overheard one of these salesmen and my asthma doctor discussing a new inhaler. He wanted to know how her patients were responding to it and asked her to keep records on any problems. Then pitched a new tablet. I said, "Wow, he gets test results from real guinea pigs, unbeknownst to them. While you get what? A free trip to the Bahamas?" I got twin frowns as they moved their discussion to her office.
How did this ridiculous state of affairs get started, when for millennia people used Nature to cure their ills? It seems that around the turn of the last century, John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie had invested heavily in drugs and surgery. In other words, allopathic medicine. They sent a man named Fletchner around to all of the medical schools in the country. If they were found to teach blacks, women, Native Americans or any alternative therapies, they received no funding. If that didn't shut them down, they sent their goons around to shut them down. Midwives, herbalists, and chiropractors went underground for decades.
Allopathic medicine was promoted and anything natural and less invasive was trashed as quackery. That is too funny, as Rockefeller's dad had been a snake oil salesman.
Of course, this restrictive control of 'dangerous' substances is for the public's benefit, right? Then why is aspirin still on the market? It's killed more than a few people. The FDA couldn't wait to ban Ephedra, an herb that opens the airway naturally, with no serious side effects if used correctly. But, some teenagers decided to overdose on it, hoping to lose weight and I believe, died. That is all the ammo the FDA needed. It was banned.
To be sure, there are any number of plants that are dangerous, even deadly. But, you can still buy the plant. Rhubarb leaves are poisonous. Nightshade, foxglove, tansy, periwinkle, salvia, poppy, and vinca can all be dangerous if misused. All are in my flowerbeds as beautiful and ornamental flowers. Are the Globalists going to remove all of these plants from the planet?
As most people know, drug companies aren't allowed to patent a plant. But they can use parts of it to make dangerous, but if used correctly, beneficial drugs. Therefore they don't want any competition from the use of the whole plant, which often works better with fewer side effects than their overpriced drugs. They want to treat us like children, incapable of doing the research before using a plant and watching for any bad reactions.
Case in point. A couple of years ago, in serious pain from joints, I discovered a product called Kratom, derived from a plant in Southeast Asia. It worked better than Tramodal, a pain medicine that caused some serious side effects for some people. After a couple of months, I noticed frequent involuntary muscle spasms. My surgeon had noticed it too, so I stopped using it. That doesn't mean that no one should use it. It is just an example of trial and error with any substance you ingest. Do your research and pay attention to how your body reacts to it.
So, does the FDA have a role to play in investigating new or old drugs? Absolutely. But, how many drugs, initially labeled as safe because Big Pharma is allowed to police themselves, were eventually pulled off the market. And at what cost to the users? Often only after enough harm was done to raise the public alarm. Does anyone remember Thalidomide?
It would be nice if there were an agency that honestly tested herbs and natural supplements with an eye to protecting the public and educating people in the beneficial use of natural substances. Oh wait, I think Mike Adams, the Health Ranger does that. It should be done without any concern for Big Pharma's bottom line. I doubt if any of the drug company CEOs are in any danger of standing in soup lines.
In the meantime, leave my herbs and supplements alone! Stop catering to the drug companies and working to eliminate their competition from the natural world. Those of us who prefer to use Nature's medicines need to band together and stop this nanny state overreach on our freedom.
If Senator Dick Durbin has his way, you will pay a lot of money to get supplements or herbal remedies in the future. At the same time that food prices are going through the roof. He is trying to sneak into a bill, bringing supplements and herbals under the control of Big Pharma. I wonder how much Big Pharma money has feathered his campaigns? I'm sure the Senator is only concerned about our health and safety. By the way, it should be illegal for Congress to include language into a bill concerning anything not related to the original bill. In my dreams!
I wasn't able to get the full list of products on the chopping block. But I'm pretty sure that Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Ginkgo Biloba, melatonin, and zinc are on the list. The very supplements the Frontline Doctors are recommending to beef up your natural immune system during this fake pandemic. Very interesting on the timing.
We all need to call our senators and representatives and raise all kinds of hell. We have to fight this tyranny. If we don't, we will lose this freedom of choice and be even more under the thumb of the Deep State. Please, join the fight.
