effect is usually a noun, indicating the particular result of some action - "One effect of the border crisis was that many began to regret their vote in the recent election." - but may be a verb indicating to directly give rise to a specific outcome; to make or bring about - "He pondered how best to effect that change to local zoning law."

affect is most often a verb, indicating to change or alter something already existing - "He hoped to affect the impression his family had of Donald Trump." - or can indicate to make a false display of - "He affected a Chinese accent though he was born in The Bronx." - but can also be a noun describing the outward signs of one's subjective feelings in response to some stimulus - "By his affect one would conclude he found the news depressing."

sight - the ability to see; or the act of seeing; or the thing seen.

site - May refer to a website, but more broadly indicates the place where a thing is or is to be fixed or located - "The site of the Hall of Records".

cite - to quote the words of another; or to list the sources of one's information. Or to mention in commendation or praise - "She was cited for bravery." (Or, to be authoritatively summoned to court, as by a traffic citation.)
