RMN reader Craig sent the following via RMN email:

This is nothing new. I have seen this with my own eyes.....from 1960 when my father left Cuba.

The Cuban government assigned letters to people to prevent them from leaving on their passports. These "classifications" were A - Doctors, scientists, engineers, etc. B - Lawyers, entrepreneurs, etc. C - Students, Athletes, etc. D - Day Laborers, etc. My Dad always told me it was his fellow friend and student, a Chinaman who told him what was happening on January 1st, 1959 as it was the reason his family ended up in Cuba.....escaping Mao's China. He told him what was going to happen in the coming weeks as the first thing would be they're coming for your guns after they wipe out dissidents and organized crime. Then they'll deem people "essential" and "non-essential" and classify citizens. Then they'll promise all kinds of fun stuff like free school, money, etc. For a 20-year old man, this guy paid close attention.

He told my Dad he was gtfo of there and going to the U.S. and advised him to do the same. Thankfully for my Dad he started noticing people at his job getting laid off one by one then groups at a time as they were "non-essential." BTW, Castro ran the American/Italian Mafia out within the first month. Guys like Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky....that should ring a bell. The smaller fries were either executed or sent to forced labor out in the cane fields. Then yes, they "voluntarily" took the guns. My Dad saw that his friend was now speaking to him truth to power and wised up.

He got a passport and visa to the U.S. as a tourist. Had he not known better he would've been detained and never been able to leave because my grandfather was a bar and casino owner. My father, the son of an entrepreneur would've never been allowed to escape as well as being a student and a minor league baseball player....triple-whammy. But when asked what is your occupation, he replied simply "I wash dishes at a local bar and casino for tips" got him classified as a Class D citizen as in "Defective" but now a badge of honor as a "Defector."

My grandfather was a class B....he could not leave. When the tax man came and came hard he ended up bartering with him for everything he had in exchange for two plane tickets the hell out of there. Mind you, you don't get to pick where you go you just go and get out. My grandfather being two generations removed from his American ancestry could not invoke U.S. citizenship but my grandmother being one generation removed from her Spanish citizenship did and they were dumped in Kingston, Jamaica by the Cuban government only to then find a way to board a plane to eventually get to Madrid, Spain where they were exiled for years until my Dad finally petitioned for them around 1963-64.

I hope this wakes people up as what we are witnessing is nothing new at all.
