I returned to South Africa after 9 months in Holland because I'd rather die there than in Holland. When I returned, everything seemed normal, there were quarantines in place but all the stores were fully stocked. I asked about Chloroquine at the pharmacy and it is no longer available without a prescription, and additionally, when I questioned the clerk she said all stocks were removed "on orders from higher ups" and she said she thought that was strange and guessed that the "higher ups" were keeping it for themselves.

This reader also said that my advice to buy a freezer was bad advice, and that people should instead spend their money on as much meat as they can possibly get and to turn it into jerky. That's actually a good idea if you are running on grid power because if they cut the power and you have no back ups you are doomed, and now is not a good time to be buying a solar setup if you don't already have one.

And what if you have to run? If you properly make jerky, you can have an original weight of 50 pounds end up being less than 10. Imagine heading for the hills on foot as the storm troopers arrive with 100 pounds of meat adding 20 pounds to your provisions, worry free.
