Lucifers Semi-Final Conclave -- Part 45

At Home:
When Danielle had received the call from Old Goat requesting she try to contact George Henly for info, her stomach churned. She had barely kept her lunch down. She was having fun with the girls in Laughlin, and they had just finished a late lunch at a neat little restaurant on the river walk. Jennifer and Buffy sat on either side of her on a bench. She was not feeling well at all, Indigestion, they first thought. Couldn’t have been the food, they all agreed, for they had all had exactly the same. A salad and a steak quesadilla, and iced tea. I’m the one who is supposed to get weird sick attacks, Buffy quipped, I’m the only pregnant one --- uhh right? Right, Bree? She smiled… Jennifer looked at Danielle also, smiling broadly.
No, Danielle said. I’m fine that way… for now, at least, she added with a grin.. In spite of Phil… It’s not time yet, but hopefully soon. Jennifer went into a dollar tree, and bought a box of baking soda and a small bottle of water. She made her mommy mix, and handed it to Danielle. They sat for a few more minutes, and they continued to Buffy’s SUV. Danielle knew her problem was not physical, at all. Her last purchase in Laughlin was another burner phone and $100 airtime from Dollar General.

Actually, she had often thought about the last lunch she had with George Henly and Bill Meacham. Old Goat’s call and her acceptance of his request had hit her like a ton of bricks. It was only later after finding the Amulet, did Brigdid make her aware of how close she came, the day after that lunch to being raped and eventually sacrificed by Georges’ pet demon, Anu. It was the day after that experience that led to her awakening though, she realized. The day afterward had brought the joy of her reuniting with her soul mate, Phillip Warren, as well as answering both their questions about the truth of their four year estrangement. She had been ‘possessed’ by Anu’s demons. They took 4 years of happiness from us, she realized. She also has since realized that it was only due to her rejection of God, who Phil seemed to always follow.
As a psychology PHD candidate, she had accepted their rules of human belief systems. That is the door Anu’s friends had entered. 4 years later, she had finally closed that door, and now she was determined to seal it closed forever. Homer and his group had shown her the only way to do so. Alexandria’s trust in God had rescued them as she had given them as strangers respite, and the days since had proven its validity.

She was not going to allow another door to be used for them to enter. All contact with George Henly and his demon world would be with a new phone, whose number she could cease to exist. She would not lead the demons to the new refuge Brigdid had shown her.

Rocksense West:
George Henly had a big grin on his face as he had just completed a very unexpected call with none other than the woman who is the most wanted by the beast’s human soldiers, Rocksense’s leaders, and Anu’s troops. He understood that both the beast’s soldiers and Rocksense had been neutered, as they no longer had any legal reason to pursue her and her consort. But, his grin was because he now had the opportunity to give prince Doubt’s troops their heart’s desire. He had the ultimate lever to force them to give back Anu. He would give them Danielle, and possibly her true consort as well, if they would return Anu to him. He knew he had the deal that they would not refuse, and he was almost in ecstasy as he carefully planned the details…. Now, he thought, all that remains is to present the deal to Doubt, and get his firm agreement.

Lucifer’s dome:
Doubt, he snarled… You surely still do not comprehend. Since Anu’s departure I put you in charge of the room of Deception. Why bother me with your duties? The return of Anu is not possible. Once the staff has sent him into the flesh prison, it is final, and not reversible. There is no return until his flesh dissolves. And as for him, unlike other spirits so entombed in flesh, when Anu dissolves he goes directly to the pit and eternal disappearance. For Anu, there is no hope. See that you do not join him early.

I am weary, Doubt, of doing your job for you. Deception I gave to you as a specialty. Yet I will try once more. But I warn you.. do not make the mistake of listening too long to General Pride, as Anu did.
Provide him Inlil, the closest one we have left to Anu. He also highly enjoys playing with human minds and flesh, and has often been highly effective for us.

Tell George that Anu will shortly come back to him as I have released him from his present duties, and I personally have sent him Inlil as a good faith down payment on the deal. Allow him to sample Inlil. Then, after we have possession of Danielle, deliver George To Amok. He also hungers for more flesh. He ireminded me recently that Bill Meacham was barely an appetizer, and his troops hungered greatly as well. George may suffice them until our great feast on the remnant has been fully prepared.

At Home:

Yes, They were all planning to cover Danielle’s six well when she met with ol’ George in Pahrump tomorrow. Old Goat had made special preparations with the military as well.
No, not to stop him from anything, but to guarantee that Danielle herself was not actually harmed. The actual phone call was not lengthy at all. It was made on her newly purchased burner phone. It was not actually a request, either on the part of Danielle, yet the ‘deal’ it made got his acceptance. She merely stated:

George, this is Danielle Meacham. Please listen carefully. I have recently reviewed the items I received as the as the heir and widow of Bill, whom you and Rocksense had murdered in the desert last week.
They consisted only of his wallet and briefcase. Among the items in the case were his handwritten notes. The contents of the notes is what I need to discuss with you. Of particular interest is this “Anu” character both of you wanted me to meet that day.

But, In particular the notes disclosed that you had told him that there exists many cell phone sized devices which you and your friends use. I happen to know of the location of such a device, and further, that it is only mentally accessed. I know this via the spiral scribed amulet I found on the carpet in your office that day. Brihgid enabled my successful escape at LV airport, and afterward she also informed me that the device contains much knowledge, as well as much danger. She has also given me many other secrets.

Here is the bottom line. I will divulge to you how to certainly find this Anu entity you seek, in exchange for information on how to avoid dangers from mentally communicating with the device. … Deal?

Yyess, stammered a befuddled George. Yes.

Then, meet me at the Holiday Inn Express coffee shop in Pahrump at noon tomorrow. I will be wearing the same black dress you last saw me in. She then disconnected.

Rocksense West:
As Doubt appeared in Georges office, he found George in deep thought. George, he said, Master has told me that he will furnish you a temporary subsitute for Anu, until Anu can be relieved of his present duties and return. You will be pleased indeed with the stand in. Would you like to have a sample now? George sensed something more with Doubt’s words. He knew from experience, and from Anu himself, that prince Doubt had gained his master’s ire on several occasions. Anu he missed greatly, and he was not yet prepared to jump in bed with a substitute, no matter how good of a prostitute it was.
Bridghid had just now offered him info on Anu himself. He would wait.

He answered… Not right now, Doubt… Perhaps later. Right now, I need to think a bit.
George opened the drawer of his desk. He withdrew the plastic vial which held a powdered tablet of Rohypnol. Rohypnol is no longer available in the US. In
Mexico, it is cheap and readily available. It is derived from the pollen of the Datura flower. It is commonly known on the street as the king of ’date rape’ drugs. Within moments the victim is disabled from remembering anything at all for several hours, yet the victim is only very minimally physically affected. The victim is under complete verbal command and agreement to any suggestion made, without inhibition….
The white powder dissolves quickly and is odorless and colorless in any liquid… He smiled as he placed the vial prominently on his desk, for tomorrow’s lunch date…

Maybe she can produce Anu, he thought… but if not, I will have Brihgid to offer to Prince Doubt for a deal, anyway….

At Home:
After supper, they reviewed once more their moves for tomorrow. Old Goat had faxed Homer pictures of the device they had for Danielle to prove to George that she really had one. Clive had picked them up earlier. Old Goat had also provided a tech team who would install a radio relay system from Pahrump to Rocksense. The system would function to re-broadcast the signal from the small wireless microphone Danielle would wear. A second radio relay would be covertly attached to the vehicle George arrived in, as well as a larger and more sensitive wireless voice transmitter in the his vehicle’s interior which would only activate if the one from Danielle’s failed to transmit. Voice monitoring would also be available in any air assets that may be needed, and would be recorded in them as well. Phil and Clive were to drive hussy and park it in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot by 10 AM. They would there be provided with a portable radio by the tech team, which would not only monitor, but transmit their voice to the relay system. They were to drive to Pahrump via the mostly unimproved roads of the southern route and wait and observe from inside the camper.
Jim, Christy and Danielle were to drive the shorter northern route via Las Vegas. They would then rent another car, and send Danielle on her way in Jim’s present car, following her as far as Marcy‘s private parking lot. Marcy would then join them there. The tech team was to leave another portable radio tonight in the bed of Marcy’s truck.

The fail safe indicator was that if hussy was not in the parking lot when Danielle arrived, she was to just keep driving, and call it off. They would then just go to plan ‘B’, which was to just pick up George on a signed FISA warrant, which they already had in hand.

Their final ace consisted of a Reservation Patrol SUV with two MP’s dressed as unarmed Paiute police officers, but of course with arms aplenty in the rear. They were to have separate radio contact with all ground portions of the team, as a fail safe to the radio relay system. That one was added on a whim of #6.

Everyone knew the risks, and essentially knew that George Healy was not to be trusted in the least to abide by the rules of any deal… By 10 PM, They were as ready as they could get.
In hussy‘s camper, Danielle settled herself in bed, and Phil soon joined her. As she cuddled into the warmth of his body and arms, she lay her head on his chest, and within moments, found herself flying. She was riding on the back of Andy, the eagle Marcy had introduced her too. They soared high over the Rocksense facility and headed to the East. Over New Mexico, Andy slowed and descended. As andy looked back at her, she saw not the face of an eagle, but the face of Hatalii. As they descended lower, she saw three people, following a group of skin walkers, demons of every sort imaginable. The three had a compass of sorts, which pointed their way to the group. Two of the three men fell, and no longer was able to follow, The third picked up the compass, and continued following the group. As Hatalli took her lower, she became aware that the ’man’ was not a grown man, but only a boy. The group then went to the boy and took the compass away. The boy joined with them and the entire group walked off to the west, and vanished into the mountains. Hatalli then flew west, landing at to Amy and Andy’s nest on the crag overlooking the Cliff at Rocksense. From her view from the crag, she watched as a line of figures entered the portal at the cliff bottom. The boy was the last to enter, and he was being carried by one of the demons. As she looked, she recognized the face of the ‘boy’, as he was no longer a boy, but an old man. It was George Henly. Just then, Hatalii appeared beside her in the nest, and he pointed to the boy’s helper… Anu, he said…. Immediately, her mind flashed a picture of the device that Homer had brought over… Hatalii then said…. Compass….

She jerked with such violence that Phil was almost kicked out of bed. Phil held onto a gasping Danielle and comforted her as she was trying to regain her breath. Finally, she wrapped her arms about him , and buried her face in his neck. She did not need to explain to Phil… Somehow he knew, and she knew also. There was stress, dead ahead.
