Apparently, a 4-hour documentary has been presented at Sundance that seems to leave no doubt that Michael Jackson was a serial child sexual predator.

In the past, many found allegations of serious misdeeds by Jackson difficult or even impossible to believe, for various reasons. There were statements by some who had been befriended by Jackson that nothing improper had ever occurred. And it seemed obvious that some who were going after Jackson were doing so as a vendetta, with agendas that were less than pure and honorable. Some of us here at RMN even wondered if MJ might be working undercover with law enforcement to infiltrate pedophile networks and identify individual perpetrators.

Now comes the "Leaving Neverland" documentary, based chiefly on first-person accounts by two men who say they were sexually abused by Jackson, beginning when they were 7 and 11, respectively.

I find I'm suspicious of all this, though I don't know why. There doesn't seem to be anything to be gained from "spinning a yarn" of this much detail at this late date. Could the two men have been encouraged to invent stories that would further the intended narrative of this documentary? Maybe, though it seems unlikely. I'd suppose that we may now see others coming forward with similar stories. Time will tell.
