North American aquifers do not seem to be inherently natural and permanent items. There is evidence that, on a cosmic timeline, they are temporary anomalies.

In a nutshell, the last "ice age" appears to have been a large cloud of ice crystals brought to the Earth and deposited at the magnetic poles. The deposition seems to have occurred so quickly as to displace the water in the Arctic ocean all the way down to the sea bed and continued until the ice level was several thousand feet above the original sea level. This ice mass, at an estimated two hundred degrees or more below zero degrees Fahrenheit, flowed down into what is now northern U.S. with the ice being about a mile deep at Seattle. The entire deposition seems to have taken only days or a few weeks at most and seems to have occurred only a few thousand years ago. Then it melted.

If you look at topographical map of North America the entire continent is a runoff basin from the Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico. It could be reasonably assumed that the flushing of the Arctic ocean down and across the continent happened very quickly. That much ice, however would have taken several thousand years to melt producing deep continuous flooding. This deep flooding would have super saturated the Earth's crust in volume and depth by sheer water pressure and duration more than rain ever could.

Evidence would suggest that the North American aquifers in their present state are not natural and cannot be refilled to what is presumed to be original state by rain or snowfall.

Any way you look at it they are going away, so we will just have to find a alternative. It was good while it lasted.

In closing I would say that no research into the past is, or can be, entirely accurate. We are now, not then. Even so if enough bread crumbs are evaluated then a reasonable estimate of history can be made. The danger is casting the estimate in concrete instead of leaving it flexible so as to accommodate further evidence.
