I think what you're describing is "cronyism" or "colleagueship", versus true friendship.

Apocalypse is originally from the Greek. It's often used in referring to an "end time" scenario, which is where its catastrophic connotation comes from.

I learned from experience that friendship is a club. As long as you abide by the rules of the club , friendship continues until you find out someday that the rules of the club are not just nor fare. You bring it up to the club managers and they don’t bend to the truth because their bucks are tied up to something else that is not true. If you are true you leave the club and don’t bend to the lie.

Since everybody is tied to up to the cent, selling what the buyers want becomes friendship until the buyers no longer want that merchandise which is a lie.

By the way the word apocalypse does not mean destruction as it is interpreted in Christianity. It only means revelation or uncovering a lie or presenting a hidden truth. I am sure you are acquainted with the original meaning from the Latin language.
