The electricity market was taken over and privatized about 10+ years ago in Oz. I think the international bankers knew this acceptance of electric motive power would come in time and they moved in ahead and took over. If they lose on oil they gain with the use of their electricity production and network infrastructure supply.

Many of these electric cars/motorbikes/bicycles are designed with the wall plug in for recharge. It does not have to be so.

Once solar energy storage and improved battery technology occurs and made widely available then we will be on our way to very cheap wheeled motive power.

Unfortunately governments don’t like losing revenue so taxes will likely rise accordingly me thinks.

Electricity use prices have climbed steadily each year in my part of Oz. When it was first privatized it was Royal Dutch Shell Corporation that got it. No surprises with that.
