Dr. Cornish graduated from Brown University undergraduate Phi Beta Kappa and Brown University Medical School. She completed her family medicine residency at Georgetown University. During her training at Georgetown, she volunteered her time by serving as a medical consultant on a DC Human Rights Committee for Individuals with Disabilities. As a Howard Hughes Medical Fellow, Dr. Cornish conducted translational research at the National Human Genome Research Institute of NIH. She was an apprentice in the laboratory of Francis Collins, M.D Ph.D. the current Director of NIH and leader of the Human Genome Project. Under his leadership, she analyzed genetic associations of chronic illnesses.

She is current a member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) and the International Lyme Association Disease Society (ILADS). As partner at Internal Medicine of Northern Virginia, Dr. Cornish has developed expertise in the management of Chronic Lyme Disease, immune disorders, Chronic Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia. Dr Cornish’s approach to the treatment of chronic disease is to find the root cause of a person’s health problems by performing a comprehensive evaluation of the body’s various biological systems .She understands that all of these symptoms are interconnected and contribute to the emergence of disease as well as its resolution.

Her paradigm is based on the evaluation of both environmental and genetic predisposition to disease by incorporating evidence based treatment approaches as well as integrative strategies for healing. Dr. Cornish has truly valued the opportunity to extend her treatment modalities to the Morgellons patient population. She has combined her passion for patient advocacy, interest in chronic illness and extensive genetic research experience at NIH to manage the challenges facing her patients.
