Russia is once again the subject, this time of two House probes into the racketeering in the Uranium One deal, and the FBI withholding of related information from Congress…

Rep Devin Nunes (R-CA), Rep Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Rep Peter King (R-NY) announced a joint investigation by two separate House committees, the Intelligence Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, into Russian involvement in the Uranium One deal.

That’s the perfect way to frame it, as it is impossible, given the months of Russia, Russia, Russia for Democrats to claim that it’s irrelevant or improper, though they’ll surely still try.

And there’s no need at this point for them to venture into the corruption of the DOJ and FBI or the potential involvement of many of the Obama cabinet officials, as well as possible members of the CFIUS Committee that approved the deal. Obama could easily be implicated as well.

Those revelations, if they are to happen, will come as the investigations proceed. For now they’re just making the announcement and unlike the original Russia, Russia, Russia, there’s already evidence of wrongdoing throughout the Obama regime that occurred as the deal progressed.

Nunes spoke first, saying, “What we’re here to announce is an inquiry into Russia’s involvement into [sic] the uranium deal that was done several years ago.”

He said, “This is just the beginning of this probe. We are not going to jump to any conclusions at this time, but one of the things, as you know, that we’re concerned about is whether or not there was an FBI investigation, was there a DOJ investigation, and if so, why was Congress not informed of this matter?”

Rep Ron DeSantis says, “We do have a witness who was a confidential informant, who wants to talk about his role in this. And we’re in contact with the Justice Department to release him from a non-disclosure agreement. If that doesn’t work out in a timely fashion then we obviously would be able to subpoena him.”

He says, “On the Oversight Committee, particularly my subcommittee, we’re going to be focusing on how the interagency process worked in this. We don’t think that it worked out very well. So we have jurisdiction over the various national security agencies and we want to get as much information as we can so we can see what happened.”

Rep King describes being the Ranking Member on the Homeland Security Committee back in 2010 and having joined at the time with three of his colleagues to send a letter to then-Treasury Secretary Geithner, who was also a member of the approving CFIUS committee, regarding the sale. He received a response indicating that the deal was “getting full scrutiny.”

He said, “It’s important that we find out why that deal went through and certainly, in view of recent allegations that have been made or recent questions have been raised, it’s essential that this inquiry go forward.

The main problem for Hillary and Bill Clinton at this point seems to be one of access. How do they get their hands on that informant before Congress does and those pesky FBI reports. Maybe Andy McCabe needs a new house.
