What nonsense. Americans are overworked and have more chronic diseases than ever before. Drug companies are audited and inspected regularly by the FDA and DEA. The distributors are also audited and must enter drug sales in a database which the DEA has connected to their databases and pharmacies are also audited by both state and DEA auditors and all drugs dispensed are entered into their databases with the DEA databases red flagging all large prescriptions of controlled substances. In other wards the whole supply chain is monitored.

I have a friend who specializes in substance abuse and works in two different facilities one for juveniles and the other for adults. What are the two major problems? Meth and alcohol. When people with chronic diseases are cut off from meds they turn to alcohol and this is the number one problem. No one is calling for a ban on these or reducing bar hours or restricting sales by shorting the hours these can be sold.

About 5 years ago the police chief made a press conference in our city claiming they raided a doctors office and arrested the physician claiming in one instance he prescribed 2000 pills over two years. The problem is the doctor was following the PDR guidelines where for the meds involved state maximum of 2 pills every 8 hours. Now 8 times thirty is 240 a month x 2 years is 5760 pills so he was way under the PDR guidelines. This is the problem with non medical professionals practicing medicine without a license. How was he arrested? They sent in a female undercover officer claiming back pain. The doctor said he could only prescribe a small amount of narcotics as he needed to run tests and take x-rays as he didn't have access to her records. She left with a 30 pill prescription and was told to return. The swat team raided his offices claiming he prescribed a controlled substance without any proof of an underlying disease.

Folks do you see where we headed here? This is about complete control of meds and forcing people to use alcohol as the industry has a huge financial incentive just as they are now attacking the legal pot states. By the way the physician sued the city and won a huge settlement as the court said he did not violate prescription guidelines. Law enforcement knew what they were doing and that is sending a message to all physicians. No pain relief for people who come in the first time and doctors requiring loads of tests for compliance which drives up medical costs and most people unable to afford this. You want to know why costs are so high this is one main reason!

It is easy to create a crisis by simply adding more controls. Take prohibition where alcohol sales soared along with alcoholism. Most countries allow low dose narcotics to be sold over the counter if one pulls a muscle or has a tooth ache. Governments there take the position that people have enough common sense if pain persists you then go to a doctor and not before which lowers medical costs. All of these countries have much lower addiction rates than the US.

Most of the illegal pills sold are actually smuggled into the US and are bootlegs.
