Our American Legion post sponsors a Boy Scout troop. The members have voted to discontinue sponsorship on September, 2018 when the all-girl enrollment begins.

The Boy Scouts of America is caught between a rock and a hard spot. The transgender children are beginning to enter America's society, and in particular the Boy Scout organization. The BSA doesn't know how to handle this situation; a girl feeling like a boy.

All the boys in our troop were questioned and asked their feelings on having a transgender boy joining their ranks. ALL said they were not happy with the arrangement. I may assume they will have similar feelings about girls joining as well.

We have interviewed Girl Scoutmasters about their feelings. Many are excited and look forward to the BSA policy change. They felt the Girl Scouts of America has not done enough in improving the GSA program, and feel the girls are being deprived of the opportunity to achieve the coveted rank of Eagle, which is only provided for the BSA.

As for membership in the BSA, yes it will increase. The Girl Scouts are already getting ready to drop their organization and start a new Boy Scout troop with all girls.

In all, this will be a completely new Boy Scouts of America organization. Sadly, not one that our American Legion post is interested in sponsoring. There will be winners, and there will be losers.

I'm certain the feminists will eventually demand the 'Girl' scouts have equal billing, and therefore a name change will have Boys & Girl Scouts of America. This would be no different than when the Boys Club merged with the Girls Club, or when the Young Men's Christian Association merged with the Young Women's Christian Association.

No one complained because they didn't have to share the same tent, or the same latrine. Such is not the case in Boy Scouting.
