POP'S ENVOY, MONS. HOSER: The first apparitions in Medjugorje will be acknowledged
Special Priest envoy to Medjugorje, Archbishop of Warsaw-Prague Msgr. Henryk Hoser told the Polish Catholic Information Agency (KAI) that the Holy Father would most likely endorse the first appearances of Our Lady in Medjugorje by the end of this year.
Everything suggests that apparitions will be recognized, perhaps this year. Let us not forget that the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith has given all the documentation to the Holy See's State Secretariat, which is now working on it, said Archbishop Hoser, whom Pope Francis last summer named as a special envoy for pastoral care in Medjugorje, reports HRT (Croatian Radio Television).
During that he explained that "it is possible that the first seven apparitions are recognized, as was suggested by Cardinal Carmine Ruini's commission".
According to media quotes, the commission appointed by former Pope Benedict XVI after many years of work found that there were no doubts about the credibility of the apparitions of the Virgin in the early days of 1981, but at the same time expressed reservations about the later apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje called the Queen of Peace. It is difficult to make a different decision because it is impossible for six visionaries to lie 36 years long. What they say is meaningful, said Archbishop who met some of the visionaries during his stay in Medjugorje. He also sees arguments for the recognition of the Medjugorje phenomenon in the 'faithfulness of the Church's teaching'.
Asked by journalists about the arguments against the apparitions that they are too "personal" and that Mary "in them speaks too much", Hoser replied: St. Faustin has spoken to Jesus on a daily basis for several years. That should not be a problem. Of course, one should be cautious of every aspect, as well as the possibility of psychological problems in visionaries. But they were thoroughly reviewed by specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists. There is no disease there. That was a healthy youngsters from healthy families. Today, everybody lives in a stable marriage, none of them has gone through the crisis of faith, the Polish archbishop said.
The archbishop of Warsaw-Pesky is also questioned for the negative relation of the Bishop of Mostar-Duva Rat Ratic to Medjugorje. He replied that Perić's stand was well known, as well as that of his predecessor, the late Paul Žanic.
He urged all believers to go to Medjugorje and so spiritually renew themselves. I would certainly recommend it. I would say that it is the pilgrimage of spiritual change, conversion, faith-strengthening that you can all experience there, Archbishop Hoser said.
